With today's changes, many farmers are getting away from raising tobacco and instead are supplementing their income with beef cattle. Kentucky has the largest inventory of beef cattle this side of the Mississippi and continues to grow. We are in the process of promoting and educating the public with the production, distribution, and selling of beef from the farm to the marketplace.

If you are looking for a fun, exciting and educational weekend full of activities, then the Fort Harrod Beef Festival is the place to be. This event is packed with concerts, grill-offs, beef education, a beef and bourbon tasting, wine and cheese tasting, juried arts and crafts, a car show, 5K race, team roping, steak and eggs breakfast, art display, live entertainment, festival food, children's activities and much more.

We invite you to navigate our Web site for a complete list of activities.

Kentucky’s Fort Harrod Beef Festival Wins Award

The Kentucky Festival and Events Association annual conference was recently held in Louisville, Kentucky.  The beef festival received first place for the Most Innovative or New Activity award.  “We were thrilled that we received the award, especially when we were competing with many larger and older festivals,” said Joan Huffman co-chair along with LeMayne Ellis.  “We submitted information about our steak and egg breakfast and they liked what we are doing.”  “We are so appreciative of the volunteers that work hard for this festival.”

The Beef Festival committee is currently planning this year’s festival, which will be held June 5-8, 2008.  If you would like to volunteer, serve on a committee, or be an arts and crafts exhibitor, please call Joan Huffman at 734-9614 or LeMayne Ellis at 734-5546.

THERE IS TRULY SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE!

The Fort Harrod Beef Festival would also like to thank all of our sponsors for the time and money that was donated to make this festival successful.
